Dooney Capri Large Susanna
Dooney & Bourke Large Capri Susanna
As you probably know, Dooney and Bourke is known for the highest quality in leather goods, especially their world renowned product line of handbags, backpacks, clothing and accessories.
Just recently I ran across a couple of Dooney and Bourke totes that have my heart thumping: the Capri Large Susanna and the Capri Extra Large Susanna.
Both bags have an inside zip pocket, two inside pockets, a cell phone pocket, inside key hook, a magnetic snap clasp, feet and price tags at the higher end of most Dooney Purses.
Mission 1: Determine if the features of these bags justify the higher price tags of $335 & $435!
I picked up the Capri Large Susanna first, and I was surprised by the size. It is slightly larger than most Medium Susanna Dooney bags. With measurements of L 12.5’ W 7.5’ H 11.5’, this bag is slightly longer and taller but noticeable wider.
The Capri Extra Large Susanna, on the other hand, is significantly larger than the next smaller sized tote. It measures L 15” W 9” H 13.5”, and has plenty of space for everything you could think of – I do mean everything.
As usual these Dooney totes come in plenty of colors including: Aqua, Avocado, Black, Brown, Cherry, Kiwi, Marine, Orange, Red, Sunflower, Navy, and Taupe.
The Good
I am amazed at the quality, look and feel of these Dooney bags, especially in the attention to detail. The feet save unnecessary wear and tear on the bottom of your tote from constantly moving it across rough surfaces. The reinforced stitching gives you confidence that the bag will hold heavier loads without tearing or falling apart just after the warranty expires.
The Bad
The retail costs seems to be inline with other luxury items in this size; however I feel that these pieces are priced out of the range of most consumers and Dooney fans that won’t use these totes enough to get their moneys worth.
The Capri Large Susanna and the Capri Extra Large Susanna are part of the Dooney Exclusive line, but their design seems fairly basic when compared to what is offered by competitors or even other Dooney and Bourke totes in their Fabric line. If simplicity and class were the goals, Dooney nailed it; however they missed me on the price tag!
Conclusion
If you are a working lady who needs the extra space or a mommy needing plenty of room for baby stuff and toys, these Dooney and Bourke Capri Susannas are durable and sensible. They would also make stylist additions to a beach or gym collection with realistic functionality but are not items I would leave unattended.
